About Dr. Peter & Students

Dr. Peter Thoresen is an award-winning voice teacher, performer, music director, and writer. 

His students appear regularly on Broadway (& Juliet, Aladdin, The Great Gatsby, Dear Evan Hansen, Beetlejuice, Hamilton, Mean Girls, Caroline, Or Change, Moulin Rouge, Kinky Boots & many others) in national tours, and on TV and film. He is an adjunct professor of voice at Pace University in the BFA Musical Theater Program and maintains a thriving private studio in New York City. Peter works internationally as a voice teacher, performer and music director in the Middle East and Southeast Asia with the Association of American Voices. 

Peter is music director with Broadway Star Project in New York City, and records and performs with them each season. Recent NYC performances include critically acclaimed performances in Purcell’s Fairy Queen (Dell’Arte Opera Ensemble) and Heartbreak Express (Rhymes With Opera, world premiere). 

Thoresen has served on the voice faculties of Interlochen Summer Arts Camp and Musical Theater College Auditions (MTCA), and holds a DM in voice from the IU Jacobs School of Music where he served as a visiting faculty member. His articles on singing, music education, and entrepreneurship are regularly featured in Classical Singer Magazine.
