performance experience and technical & artistic
coaching in person, in an informal and supportive class atmosphere.

Studio Class:
Studio Class is held on the third Sunday of every month.
Sunday Fall Studio Class dates & times:
Sept. 18, Oct. 16 & Nov. 20 at 3:30pmEST
Studio Class meets in-person, the 3rd Sunday of the month from 3:30-5pmEST at Peter’s Midtown Studio:

What to bring and what to expect
Bring your book, but come with a rep agenda.
Studio Class is a great setting to
(a) Perform a song publicly for the first time in a place that’s not an audition room
(b) Work through adjustments in real time with the benefit of supportive listeners
(c) Hear new repertoire, connect with other singers & performers, and build community in NYC
In Studio Class you will
(a) Do individual work for 15-20 minutes depending on attendance
(b) Perform and work through adjustments with a combination of recorded tracks and live piano accompaniment
(c) Work with Peter, in front of studio members, on adjustments aimed at optimizing your public technical and artistic abilities

Participation fee: $45/class (payment must be received by 24 before start of class to secure your slot)

About Peter: Dr. Peter Thoresen is an award-winning voice teacher, countertenor, and music director. He is the founder of Peter Thoresen Vocal Studios in New York City, and is an adjunct voice professor at Pace University in the BFA Music Theater Program. His students appear regularly on Broadway (Dear Evan Hansen, Caroline, or Change, Hamilton, Mean Girls, Kinky Boots, Beetlejuice, Moulin Rouge, Pretty Woman and many others), off-Broadway, in national tours and all over TV & film. Peter’s students regularly appear on the Tony Awards and Emmy Awards and record on variety of labels. He performs and teaches internationally with the Association of American Voices, music directing and performing in their Broadway YES Academies in Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Indonesia and Turkmenistan.
Peter received an inaugural Joan Frey-Boytim award for Independent Teachers (a national teaching award presented by the National Association of Teachers of Singing), and is a previous Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions district winner. He performs throughout the US and abroad. He holds a Doctor of Music degree in voice from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he served as a visiting faculty member.
He is the author of the popular column ‘Crossover Corner’ in Classical Singer Magazine, a dozen+ feature and cover articles on singing, music education and entrepreneurship for Classical Singer Magazine, a chapter in the Voice Teacher’s Cookbook: Creative Recipes for Teachers of Singing (Hal Leonard, 2018). Additionally, he holds a Master’s degree in voice from the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor’s degree in voice from Illinois Wesleyan University.
